Profhilo, manufactured by IBSA, is an innovative injectable hyaluronic acid gel product used to improve skin laxity in the malar and submalar regions. In addition, Profhilo can be used to treat other areas of the face and body, including the temples and forehead, neck, hands, inner arms, and other areas experiencing skin laxity.
Profhilo is unique among injectable hyaluronic acid treatments in that the hyaluronic acid it contains is stabilized without the use of cross-linking agents like BDDE, rather a proprietary thermal process is used to form hybrid complexes of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid chains. In dermal tissue, the low molecular weight hyaluronic acid aims to hydrate and stimulate skin, while the larger high molecular weight hyaluronic acid particles act as a dermal scaffold in the skin.
Initially, administer this injectable in 2 treatment sessions, 1 month apart. Treatment can be then repeated every 2 months if necessary. When treating the face, a technique recommended is the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP) technique that consists of injecting the hyaluronic acid gel into 5 specific sites: the mandibular angle, zygomatic protrusion, tragus, nasal base, and chin. The hyaluronic acid gel should be injected subcutaneously or into the deep dermis with a 29G needle, using proper aseptic techniques. Since the results usually last about 6 months, repeat the treatments about twice a year to maintain the aesthetic results.
