What are the benefits of this product?
Euflexxa is an injectable viscosupplement that is used to ease osteoarthritis knee pain. Euflexxa is made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found in the synovial fluid of the knee. Euflexxa side effects are generally mild and could include local pain and irritation at the injection site, swelling, bruising, headache, or warmth in the knee.
How does this product work?
As your patient ages, or their knees are exposed to excess weight or physical activity, their cartilage starts to break down and their synovial fluid becomes thinner. Without this protection, the bones of your patient's knees rub together, causing inflammation, irritation and pain. When you inject Euflexxa into your patient's knee, it replaces the synovial fluid and restores the lubrication and cushioning that was lost to the knee. Your patient can now walk without their bones rubbing together, allowing them to regain their mobility.
What are the ingredients?
Sodium hyaluronate (10mg/ml), sodium chloride (8.5mg/ml), disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate (0.56mg/ml), sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate (0.05mg/ml).
How to inject this product
Only qualified medical personnel should use this medical device. Remove any present joint effusion. Attach an appropriately sized needle (17–21G) to the syringe, following manufacturer’s instructions. Inject the full contents of the syringe intraarticularly into the knee synovial capsule, using aseptic injection procedures.
When should I use this product?
The recommended treatment course for Euflexxa is 3 treatments performed 1 week apart.
What areas can I treat with this product?
Euflexxa treats pain caused by osteoarthritis of the knee.
How long do results last?
Your patient may notice a reduction in pain after their first Euflexxa injection or it may take all three injections before your patient finds some relief from their osteoarthritis symptoms. Either way, your patient should return for a total of 3 Euflexxa treatments, 1 week apart. Most patients will continue to notice an improvement for about 6 months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is an ideal candidate for this product?
Euflexxa helps to manage the pain of those afflicted with knee osteoarthritis and can be administered in cases where conventional therapies, such as physical therapy or analgesics, have failed to provide sufficient pain relief. Euflexxa should not be used to treat patients with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronate preparations or patients with knee joint infection, infections in the area of the injection site, or skin disease.
Why should I purchase this product?
Many osteoarthritis injectables are made from hyaluronic acid from rooster combs, which can be a problem for patients who are allergic to birds, feathers or eggs. However, Euflexxa does not come from an avian source, making it a safe choice for these patients. In addition, some other hyaluronic acid injectables require up to 5 injections to be effective, but Euflexxa requires only 3, saving your patient the time and hassle of additional doctor visits. If you are a licensed medical practitioner or organization such as an orthopedic surgeon, other doctor, hospital or clinic, you can purchase Euflexxa from Medica Depot and benefit from our low wholesale price. When you order Euflexxa for your clinic, you can help your osteoarthritis patients feel better, with less pain and discomfort, as well as regaining their mobility and their independence.
Are there any side effects?
As with all orthopedic injections, treatment with Euflexxa can cause common inflammatory effects for the patient. These may include arthralgia and joint swelling. Less common adverse effects reported include effusion, nausea, fatigue, non-specified tenderness, back pain, tingling, skin irritation, and non-specified hypertension. Expected injection-related reactions such as itching, redness, swelling, and pain may occur. These symptoms generally resolve on their own within a short period.
