This item is individually wrapped and is supplied in sizes of 0.25cm2 or 3.00cm2. A package insert is also provided.
What are the benefits of this product?
The Thermage CPT system is used to address skin laxity issues in both facial and non-facial areas. The flexibility of treatment with this device is enabled by interchangeable Treatment Tips that allow not only for the treatment of different areas, but for different applications as well.
How does this product work?
The Thermage CPT system works on the principle of volumetric heating. With Thermage CPT, heat is generated by tissue resistance to the electrical current this system creates, resulting in deep heating of collagen in the deep skin layers. Consequently, shrinkage and contraction of existing collagen occurs while the body’s self-repair mechanism is activated, which stimulates the production of new collagen by fibroblast cells. These effects result in the treated skin becoming tauter, firmer and suppler.
In a Thermage CPT procedure, radiofrequency energy pulses are delivered via the device’s Handpiece component. The skin marking paper is used to denote a treatment grid that guides the practitioner on the arrangement and placement of the Handpiece for each pulse delivery so that the entire treatment area is covered in non-overlapping pulses.
What are the ingredients?
Thermage TK Skin Marking Paper is a sheet of paper with a pre-defined grid. This paper can contain a grid that is well-sized for eyelid treatments, or it can contain a grid of a larger size that is suitable for other treatment areas such as the face, neck, and certain parts of the body.
The Thermage CPT system consists of a radiofrequency generator; a cryogen unit; and an operator-managed Handpiece, which is where a Thermage Treatment Tip should be attached. The Thermage Treatment Tip that is used on a Thermage CPT device is the part of the device that comes into direct contact with the skin and controls the heating profile of the radiofrequency pulses through its size and geometry. Thermage Treatment Tips each contain a microprocessor that monitors current flow, pressure, and skin temperature during Thermage CPT procedures.
How to inject/administer this product
An eyelid tightening procedure, or any skin tightening procedure done via Thermage CPT, is a medical procedure that should be conducted by a physician in a medical office setting. Prior to transferring the ink from a Thermage TK Skin Marking Paper onto the treatment area, prepare the said area by first using alcohol to cleanse the skin of makeup, cream, and impurities. While the area is still damp, place the skin marking paper onto the treatment area with the ink side down. The paper should then be moistened with a cotton pad that is soaked with alcohol until the grid shows through the paper. When the paper is removed, the grid should be transferred to the skin. After this step, a grounding pad should be attached to the patient, usually on their stomach or lower back.
Radiofrequency energy can then be delivered in adjacent but non-overlapping pulses until the pre-marked area is completely treated several times. Extra pulses may be placed in areas causing the most concern. Once the treatment session is complete, the treated area should be cleansed again with alcohol to remove the grid markings.
When should I use this product?
The results of a single Thermage CPT treatment session is typically enough to achieve most patients’ aesthetic needs.
What areas can I treat with this product?
For eyelid treatments, there is Thermage TK Skin Marking Paper that contains a grid suitable for use with the 0.25 cm2-sized Eye Tip, which is exclusively used in eyelid treatments. For Thermage CPT treatments of on the body, face, or neck, there is Thermage TK Skin Marking Paper that contains a grid that is suitable for use with larger 3 cm2-sized Treatment Tips.
How long do results last?
A single Thermage treatment session results in an immediate tightening effect, and the immediate results continue to improve through around six months after the session. The results of a Thermage CPT treatment session typically last for a few years.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is an ideal candidate for this product?
Thermage CPT treatment with the Eye Tip applicator works best on patients with slight or moderate skin laxity issues in the periorbital area that results in aesthetic concerns like wrinkly eyelids, hooding, or fine lines around the eyes. For other treatment areas that require the use of one of the larger Thermage Treatment Tips, ideal patients are those with mild or moderate skin laxity but who are not yet a suitable candidate for surgical options. If considering Thermage for cellulite, the patient should have Grade I or II cellulite.
It should be noted that certain patient groups are contraindicated for Thermage CPT treatment; these groups are pregnant women; patients with a metal implant (or implants) at or near the putative treatment area; patients with an internal cardiac defibrillator, pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device; and patients with active skin infection(s) at their proposed treatment area.
Why should I purchase this product?
Thermage Skin Marking Paper helps practitioners achieve optimal results with the Thermage CPT system and lessens the chances of unwanted effects by providing precise and pre-defined zones of treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Older versions of radiofrequency devices, including older Thermage systems, have been reported to cause pain and instances of injury to the skin, but risk of these complications is reduced significantly with newer radiofrequency models, such as Thermage CPT. The use of the Thermage CPT system results in some common effects, which include swelling and redness. More serious but rarer complications that have been reported with the use of the Thermage CPT system include temporary altered sensation, numbness, or tingling in the treated area; minor skin indentations; and wound healing in the epidermis that results in crusting, scabbing, or blisters.
