What is Restylane SubQ?
Restylane SubQ is a sterile, transparent, gel of stabilized hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin. Restylane SubQ is supplied in a glass syringe with a Luer lock fitting. Restylane SubQ is intended to be used for facial tissue augmentation. It is recommended to be used for shaping the contours of the face, e.g. more pronounced cheeks or chin. The depth of injection may vary from injection into the subcutaneous fatty tissue to supraperiostal administration depending on the treatment site. Restylane SubQ shall only be injected by practitioners with expertise in the correction of volume defects in the facial area. Restylane SubQ will in time undergo isovolemic degradation, which means that the product maintains its volume even during degradation.

What are the benefits of this product?
Restylane SubQ has a large particle size and is placed deep into the dermal tissue, giving it better tissue augmenting abilities compared to other dermal fillers. This makes it suitable to treat more severe instances of facial volume loss, such as facial concave deformities and facial reconstruction.
How does this product work?
Restylane SubQ is a resorbable dermal filler that is composed of highly stabilized hyaluronic acid particles. This product contains large particles which gives it good lifting and volumizing properties. When injected into the skin, the surrounding facial tissue is plumped, smoothing any lines and folds, and giving the face a more youthful appearance.
What are the ingredients?
- Non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA™) (20mg/ml)
- Restylane SubQ 2ml is a dermal filler made of NASHA™. Doctors like you inject this Restylane SubQ gel deep into your patient's dermis to add volume, sculpt and smooth your patient's facial features.
How to inject/administer this product
Restylane SubQ is injected into the deep subcutaneous and/or supraperiostal layers using either a 21G needle or a cannula (range of 16-21G). Before treatment, inform your patient about the expected outcome, indications, precautions, and possible adverse effects. To administer the injection, first sterilize the area of treatment with an antiseptic. If necessary, a topical or local anesthetic may be applied to enhance the comfort of the patient. Assemble the needle/cannula to the treatment syringe securely, following all instructions contained on the product leaflet. Inject the product slowly, maintaining even pressure. Immediately after injection, gently massage the treated area to allow the product to conform to the contour of the surrounding tissues.
When should I use this product?
Restylane SubQ is meant to correct sunken cheeks, loss of contour, or deep folds and wrinkles. As the filler with the largest particle size of all Restylane products, this filler is suitable as an alternative to fat transfer, or microlipoinjection treatments, or for more extensive facial volume sculpting.
What areas can I treat with this product?
Restylane SubQ is great for adding volume and definition to a variety of areas on your patient's face. Restylane SubQ can plump up your patient's flat cheeks, enhance their cheekbones, sculpt their chin and jawline, plump up their chin, and help give your patients a necklift. Restylane SubQ dermal filler gives your patients an easier alternative to plastic surgery, allowing them to achieve the look they desire without going under the knife.
How long do results last?
When you give your patients Restylane SubQ injections, they should continue to have plump and sculpted facial features for about 6 months to a year. After that time, your patients should return to your clinic to purchase another Restylane SubQ treatment to maintain their results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is an ideal candidate for this product?
Your aging patients can benefit from purchasing a Restylane SubQ cosmetic treatment if they have lost volume in their face due to age and are faced with lax skin, hollow cheeks, and deep wrinkles. Your younger patients may also have sags and hollows if they have lost weight suddenly, and other patients may have medical problems that cause their skin to droop and sag. Whatever the cause of their facial hollows and laxity, your patients can benefit from the volumizing and sculpting abilities of Restylane SubQ.
Why should I purchase this product?
Restylane SubQ has the largest particle size in the Restylane family of dermal fillers, making it ideal for giving volume and definition to your patients' facial features. Help your patients avoid complications from surgical facelifts and give them the shape and definition they want in their facial features.
Are there any side effects?
Restylane SubQ makes a great alternative to invasive surgical facelifts, but it does still have some side effects you and your patients should be aware of. Restylane SubQ side effects are generally mild, temporary and similar to other dermal filler side effects, and could include pain, tenderness, itchiness, swelling redness (erythema) and discoloration. Some patients may notice lumpiness after they get their Restylane SubQ injection but this can be reduced with gentle massage. Rarely, your patient may have a hypersensitivity reaction, granuloma, urticaria, or superficial necrosis. Generally, patients do not need an allergy test when getting Restylane SubQ injections because hyaluronic acid is found naturally within the skin.
