Cosmetic Procedures for Brides-to-Be
- - April 23rd 2014
Everyone wants to look their best on their wedding day. This used to mean a stunning dress and professional makeup, but increasingly brides are turning to cosmetic surgery to improve their looks before the big day. Some opt for major procedures such as breast augmentation, but others are refreshing their appearance with dermal fillers and other cosmetic injections.
Often, wrinkles and sagging skin plague older brides, but younger brides can suffer from the same problems if they have had skin damage or weight loss. Most brides work hard to lose weight before their wedding, either with exercise and diet or with weight loss surgery, and they may be happy with how skinny they look. However, if they have had significant weight loss, they will likely not be happy with their saggy, baggy skin. If the brides-to-be have lost too much weight too fast, their skin cannot keep up and is left loose on their thinner frame. This is often most prominent in their face.
For older brides or brides that have had significant weight loss, there is a solution to their loose, wrinkled skin. Products like JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ can act as a liquid facelift, reducing the look of wrinkles and lifting the sagging skin back into place. JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ is made with hyaluronic acid that has thick particles to effectively fill large volumes of skin. When you inject JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ into the bride's dermis, the hyaluronic acid plumps up to about a thousand times its size, filling in facial hollows and deep wrinkles, stretching the skin out to be smooth again. At the same time, the increased volume in the facial dermis helps to lift sagging skin back up into place. Brides can restore their skin texture to a youthful yet natural look without resorting to plastic surgery.
Treating a bride-to-be with JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ can take some planning. You should let the brides know that there is a chance they could experience some bruising or swelling. This usually goes away within a few days, so a bride should leave at least a week between their appointment and their wedding day. Longer would be better to save last-minute bridal stress if their bruise is lingering. It is also a good idea to do a practice session before the big day. Some dermal fillers last about six months while JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ lasts about eighteen months. For other dermal fillers, doing a treatment about a year before the wedding then having another session closer to the wedding means that the bride can try it out in advance. This gives them a chance to see the results and see if it is how they envisioned themselves, as well as discover how their body reacts to the treatments with bruising and other minor side effects. In the case of JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™, it is still a good idea to do the cosmetic treatment well in advance of the wedding. The results will last, but if the results are not what the patient expected, there is still time to do a correction. Using a product like hyaluronidase to break down the JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ means that your patient can completely reverse their results if they desire. Planning far in advance of the wedding lets you and the bride make changes and adjustments to her cosmetic treatment, if necessary.
Cosmetic treatments are a good way for a bride-to-be to ensure she looks her best on her wedding day, whether she is an older bride or she has lost weight. JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ can give brides the effect of a facelift without invasive surgery, so be sure to add JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ to your clinic's treatment options to help brides look stunning on their big day.
